Crazy Doodle Delivery

July 20, 2024

Maggie Mae is a force to be reckoned with.  She is an 85 lb Golden Retriever in a Micros body. Don't dare tell her. She is also rotten.  I mean, like wears a crown rotten. Her human daddy says he doesn't have anything to do with her, but I happen to have a blackmail photo of the dog bed sitting right beside his computer where he works from home every day and she is definitely sitting there. She insists on being carried like a baby and if she doesn't get her way she will stare you down and cry. She also gets her way by turning her head and giving you "sweet eyes" where you are completely hypnotized and can do nothing but sit and pet her.  She is a PLAYER! She also delivers puppies as if its nothing and is completely clean from head to toe. She was due July 21/22 and we usually get them from their guardian about 5 days before they are due. Why have I not learned to get them earlier??? Sooooo, I go to Tyler Tuesday where she lives with her spoiler human daddy and mommy and human siblings. I was dropping off my kids at my mom's for a few days. I offered to get her, but we didn't connect. I was planning on being back by Thursday.  My kids conned me for another day and set out for Tyler around noon on Friday.  About 1 minute from my mom's house, I get a frantic call that she is having puppies! I hightail it to the guardian's house. This guardian has been present for a birth before so she is NOT inexperienced. Plus this is her 2nd guardian dog with us.  They are beyond wonderful!!! Well...... if you follow me you will hear me preach crate training.  You will hear me preach that dogs are den animals and would rather climb under a shed and sleep than sleep in the lap of luxury in a fleece lined bed. SO CRATE TRAIN. IT MAKES THEM HAPPY. Yep....that's exactly what she did. In the blink of an eye, she dug UNDER pavers and under the shed while her human daddy and brother were in hot pursuit.  They dug up the pavers and gently dug up underneath the shed to retrieve their wicked little mama and began every so gently looking for pups. Only one was found after digging the entire place up (I feel certain he may bury me and his wife there now). They were watching her so there was not time to have 2 under there. They then headed in the house and she had the remaining 6 pups in their large soaking tub with all of us in attendance.  That is how we roll!  And that is certainly how Maggie Mae rolls.  She was pleased with herself for causing quite the ruckus.  And to be honest, my guardian had prayed for this to happen!!! She got her way....and if you know her, she usually does. LOL She is now resting with her 7 little lovies at our house....none other than in our large walk in shower.   She has 5 females and all but one have abstract markings. 2 males are parti colored.

Yes, all babies are doing well and so is mama. They are now 24 hours old so the critical time is about 5 days.  This is when we weigh them 3 times a day, watch them latch and move, have dew claws removed and vet checked and start ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) at 3 days. We have videos on Youtube and here on our webiste.
